Today we tell the tale of the prosecution and destruction of the most amazing Facebook page to ever exist in the entire world, Newnan Time with Harold, the Queen of all things parody, satire, and Coweta. And unless you’ve been living under a rock (which is what we call Turin), you have noticed that the 4k+ follower count now reads as a big fat ZERO!
But as we’ve all experienced the mighty destructive hand of Zuckerberg crushing our hard work, the tale of Newnan Time with Harold’s demotion comes with a lot of question marks. Mainly, the why…
One of the ways Facebook keeps things “safe” and “free” and “better for democrats than others” is through their Community Standards and Violations list. This is a laundry list of your typical no bullying, name-calling, nudity, violent images, misinformation on politics, vaccine info they don’t like, etc… If you’ve violated any of these issues and have received a complaint from other users, you can find that information in your Help Center Inbox under “Violations.” But of course, Harold has sat proudly on zero violations!
But with no violations mentioned anywhere, Harold on Facebook was still restricted for a “few days.” As soon as the few days turned into a few weeks, Harold knew something more sinister was at work and he began to dig into the customer support chat for Facebook. Which, and I’m sure this is no surprise to anyone, resulted in a huge language discrepancy and little-to-no useful information.
But the main takeaway is this: “YES! You are restricted! But no! We have no idea why because that’s confidential information!”
And if we’ve learned anything from Facebook this week (with a special whistleblower, Facebook outages, and my minor annoyance) it’s that “trusting their process” is just kinda annoying, amiright?
But alas, if one is to use their platform, they must play by their rules. That is something I am willing to do to provide the hilarity Newnan so desperately needs!
PS: My brother, the always wise one of the family, pointed out to me that the most likely cause of my restrictions was my misinformation on COVID-19 and the vaccines. Yes, I did it under the guise of a parody and satire page, but I made a TON of jokes that gave incorrect (and downright unsafe) information regarding vaccines, COVID, and death rates. It was done to be hilarious, but you can read any psycho Fox News anchors’ Facebook page and see that they’ve run into similar issues with censorship… this is where I’m at now. I am in the same boat as conservative news personalities! I’ve finally made it!
PSS: The Newnan Time with Harold Facebook Page does still exist, but only I have access to it. The hope would be that when it returns, I can combine it with our BRAND NEW Newnan Time with Harold II page!
