For the first time in 32 years, Newnan is preparing for a Swearing Ceremony—and Mayor-Elect Shepherd wants everyone to know he’s taking the moment very seriously.

When asked about his favorite cuss word, the Mayor-Elect shared that he’s spent considerable time reflecting on the gravity of the occasion, weighing tradition, decorum, and community standards. While he declined to reveal a specific word, he assured residents that any swearing will be thoughtful, intentional, and—above all—family-appropriate.

“I have a plan,” Shepherd said. “There’s a time and place for every word, and City Hall is… probably not that place. But it’s nice to have options.”

Join us Tuesday, January 13 at 2:30 PM at City Hall (25 Lagrange Street) to witness history, civic duty, and the careful restraint of a man with a naughty vocabulary and also a microphone.
