I AM UPSET I DIDN’T KNOW THIS EXISTED
Okay listen. I don’t even really know what a garden is. I thought it was just… plants doing plant stuff. BUT THEN I WENT TO THIS PLACE at 14 Carmichael Street, and my brain basically did cartwheels (not athletic enough for flips).
First of all, it is cold and wet right now, and I still did not want to leave. That’s how powerful this place is. I was standing there in a jacket thinking, “The SECOND it’s warm, I’m wearing the tiniest shorts legally allowed and living here.” The sun is going to hit this spot, and I will simply cease to exist as a functioning adult.
There are paths! And shapes! And colors! And things that feel like they were made by friendly forest critters who want you to explore and touch everything. Apparently, it’s a pollinator garden and outdoor classroom by Keep Newnan Beautiful and Niagara Cares, which I assume means bees, butterflies, and children are all having the absolute time of their lives here. if you don’t have kids. You don’t need kids. BE the kid.
There’s this magical “I’m allowed to be curious here” feeling. Like, yes, it might be for kids, but no one is stopping me from hanging out forever, reading a book, lying in the grass, or just staring at things and going “whoa” quietly to myself. I would happily spend hours here doing nothing important.
Also: WHY ISNT EVERYONE GOING HERE? I feel personally betrayed. This place should have been yelled at me like a lifted truck insult.
Even in bad weather, it’s wonderful. In good weather? I’m calling it now: elite vibe. Absolute joy. If you see an adult grinning like a cartoon character there this spring, mind your business—it’s probably me. But also, let’s hang out.
