NEWNAN, GA — A growing group of locals is pushing for the city to rename a street “Chuck Norris Way,” citing what they describe as “strong word-of-mouth evidence” that Chuck Norris may have once “hung out somewhere near The Alamo.”
Supporters say the honor is long overdue and now is the appropriate time to go for it.
“He definitely came through here at some point,” said one resident. “My cousin’s friend’s dad swears he saw him at a gas station in 2004. You don’t just ignore that kind of history. We are disrespecting his legacy here.”
Others are less convinced, pointing out that Newnan has plenty of actual, verifiable people with ties to the community.
“We’re really gonna skip over real contributors and go straight to a maybe-sighting of an overrated actor?” one critic asked before locals threw garbage at them.
City officials say a formal proposal has been submitted and the name is expected to change before fall.
As of now, the debate continues, with residents agreeing on only one thing: if Chuck Norris did come to Newnan, the street probably named itself.
