BREAKING: Historic Turin Lowers Speed Limit to 5 MPH So Residents Can Fully Experience All The Beauty
Officials in the historic town of Turin have unanimously approved lowering all speed limits to 5 MPH, arguing that motorists have been “blowing past centuries of charm” far too quickly.
Town leaders say the change was necessary because visitors were reaching the other side of town before adequately appreciating the scenery.
“At 25 miles per hour, people miss at least 80% of Turin, at 55 MPH they’re basically punching history in its face,” one official explained. “At 5 miles per hour, they’ll have enough time to admire every tree, mailbox, and dirty old building twice.”
The town, incorporated in 1890 and home to only a few hundred residents, is already known for its small-town character.
Residents have expressed mixed reactions. Some support the move, while others worry their commute to the other end of town could now take nearly 90 seconds.
Officials are reportedly considering an additional ordinance requiring drivers to roll down their windows and softly whisper, “Wow, that’s nice,” at least once before leaving town. Failure to do so may result in a warning and a complimentary brochure titled Please Slow Down, You’re Missing Turin.
