Newnan Considers Streamlining Alcohol Approval Process by Simply Letting Chandler Decide
The Newnan City Council is reviewing a bold new proposal that would dramatically speed up alcohol approvals by eliminating hearings, votes, and paperwork, and instead placing the entire process in the hands of one guy named Chandler.
Under the proposed system, if your business wants to sell alcohol, Chandler will think about it for a second, text his friends, and—if the vibes are right—personally deliver your alcohol in a truck later that evening.
City officials say the change could reduce approval times from several weeks to “whenever Chandler gets off work.”
“Honestly, this is way more efficient,” said City Manager. “If Chandler likes your place and there’s a cooler involved, you’re approved. If not, maybe try again after football season in a few weeks.”
Currently, alcohol licenses require public hearings, council votes, and advertising notices. The new approach removes all of that in favor of Chandler and his crew rolling up with a tailgate, some lawn chairs, and what sources describe as “a strong sense of confidence.”
Chandler said he takes the responsibility seriously.
“I just want what’s best for Newnan,” he explained, standing next to a truck bed full of coolers. “If your business feels like a place we’d hang out? Congrats. If not… bruh.”
