US Women’s Hockey Team Skips White House, Books Sprayberry’s Instead
In a surprise move this week, the U.S. Women’s Hockey Team announced they will not be celebrating their recent gold medal win at the White House.
Instead, the team has reportedly decided to rent out Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Que for a private night of food and fun.
A team spokesperson said the players wanted something “more relaxed” and “a little more Southern.” According to locals, the team plans to enjoy pulled pork plates, Brunswick stew, and plenty of sweet tea.
Sprayberry’s staff confirmed the reservation but said they were told to keep things simple. “They just want good barbecue and some time together,” one employee said.
No official reason was given for skipping the White House visit. But in Newnan, most people agree — if you win gold, you might as well celebrate with the best in the South.
