BREAKING: Downtown Newnan Neighborhoods Ban Scary Scarecrow Decorations After Residents Say They Feel Personally Attacked
NEWNAN, GA. Downtown Newnan officials have announced a ban on Scary Scarecrow decorations following complaints from residents who say the traditional Halloween decorations make fun of the way they dress.
Several residents reportedly took offense to the scarecrows’ straw sticking out of their clothing, crooked hats, patched overalls, and generally unkempt appearance.
“I don’t understand why they have to put these things downtown where everybody can see them,” said one resident. “Some of us are just trying to go about our day, and now we have to walk past a six-foot-tall version of ourselves outside a historic home.”
Officials say the ban will take effect immediately with locals required to remove any scarecrow that could reasonably be interpreted as mocking local fashion choices.
