NEWNAN — Mayor James Shepherd has launched a full-scale investigation after the Newnan Trolley unexpectedly went out of service Friday despite officials finding no signs that any maintenance was actually needed.

The mystery has quickly rolled off the rails and into federal territory.

According to city sources, investigators now believe the trolley driver may have fallen under the influence of an AI data center cyborg operating somewhere beneath Coweta County. Officials have not explained exactly what an AI data center cyborg is, but several admitted it “sounds expensive and probably dangerous.”

Mayor Shepherd promised to get to the bottom of the situation.

“We’re not going to let artificial in-transit-gence take over this town,” Shepherd said.

The FBI has reportedly joined the investigation after receiving what officials described as “concerning trolley-related signals.” Agents spent most of the evening examining tracks, electrical systems, and one suspicious USB drive found near a BBQ joint.

No arrests have been made, but residents are encouraged to report any unusual activity, including robots driving trolleys, trolleys driving robots, or anyone using phrases like “optimize the route matrix.”

The trolley remains out of service while authorities try to determine whether this was a mechanical issue or a case of cyber-railfare.
