BREAKING: Porch Fest organizers have announced this year’s headliner: The Coveralls, the nation’s only cover band dedicated exclusively to covering other cover bands.
Rather than performing songs by the original artists, The Coveralls painstakingly recreate the exact versions you’ve already heard performed by a guy named Steve at Mexican restaurants, brewery patios, and corporate picnics.
“We don’t want people to experience Fleetwood Mac,” said lead singer Chad. “We want them to experience a cover band that’s trying a little too hard to sound like another cover band that’s trying a little too hard to sound like Fleetwood Mac.”
Fans can expect faithful recreations of slightly-too-fast renditions of “Sweet Caroline,” awkwardly reggae-inspired versions of “Wagon Wheel,” and a note-for-note tribute to that one guy who always screams “FREE BIRD!” between every song.
Organizers say the band was selected because “they perfectly capture the Porch Fest experience without anyone having to accidentally wander onto the wrong porch.”
