A local church is under scrutiny after proudly announcing that a baby was baptized with Monster Energy Drink because it better represents “what Newnan is all about.”
Church leaders say the decision was made after months of prayer, reflection, and driving past every gas station in Coweta County.
“Water is great and all, but we wanted something that truly connects with our community,” said one church official. “This child is being raised in Newnan. It felt dishonest to pretend otherwise.”
The ceremony reportedly included the traditional blessing, followed by the baby receiving a free rewards card and being enrolled in a loyalty program.
Some residents have criticized the church, while others argue the baby is now fully prepared for life in modern Coweta County. Witnesses say moments after the baptism, the infant sat upright and asked where the nearest vape store was.
