NEWEST NEWNAN CONTROVERSY
City of Newnan residents are furious, and some are absolutely thrilled, after Sydney Sweeney reportedly poses nude in a new campaign encouraging Newnan to build even more roundabouts.
City officials say the campaign is meant to “increase public awareness of traffic flow.”
Residents are divided on whether the campaign sets traffic planning back 100 years or is somehow a step in the right direction.
“Tasteless,” said one Newnan resident who wished to remain nameless. “Roundabouts sell themselves. We don’t need to use hanky panky for it!”
Another resident disagreed.
“I have never once been interested in roundabouts,” he said. “Until today.”
A longtime Newnan driver said the campaign has only created more questions.
“I don’t know what Sydney Sweeney has to do with the intersection at Bullsboro and Newnan Crossing, but I have never been more motivated to yield properly.”
Others say the campaign completely misses the point.
“We need fewer roundabouts,” said one resident. “Not more reasons to look at them.”
A local business owner had a different perspective.
“Look, if this gets people talking about traffic infrastructure, I’m all for it. Personally, I haven’t read the brochure yet.”
Meanwhile, one resident reportedly spent 45 minutes driving around the same roundabout trying to determine whether the campaign was real.
“I was going to Publix,” he said. “Now I’m questioning everything.”
Newnan officials have not confirmed whether the campaign is legitimate, whether Sweeney is actually involved, or whether the city has plans for additional roundabouts.
They did, however, remind residents to enter roundabouts carefully, yield to vehicles already inside, and apparently keep an open mind.
The city also declined to comment on rumors of a follow-up campaign featuring Margot Robbie promoting left-turn lanes.
Newnan remains divided.
But traffic is moving.
